🌍 Meet the Founder: Signorita Rwasamanza

Founder & Director, United Nationals Woman Association (UNWA)
Voice of the Voiceless | Advocate | Community Leader | Mother

✨ A Life Shaped by Resilience

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Signorita Rwasamanza has lived a life shaped by courage, perseverance, and a deep love for humanity. Her early years were marked by displacement, spending over 11 years as a refugee in Ethiopia before being resettled in Australia. These years were not wasted—they became the foundation of her passion to serve, uplift, and advocate for others walking difficult paths.

👩‍👧‍👦 A Mother First, A Leader Always

A devoted mother of five, and one of six siblings, Signorita knows intimately the struggles of parenting through hardship. This lived experience drives her commitment to helping other mothers—especially newly arrived migrant and refugee women—who face homelessness, isolation, domestic violence, and other challenges in silence.

💼 Her Journey: From Service to Impact

Signorita has worked across a range of essential services, including:

  • ✅ Childcare Education

  • ✅ Aged Care Services

  • ✅ Community Support & Integration Programs

Her multi-disciplinary experience has given her unique insight into the human issues affecting women and youth, particularly those in vulnerable communities.

💪 The Birth of a Movement

In 2018, Signorita founded the United Nationals Woman Association (UNWA) with a simple but powerful mission:

"To advocate, empower, and integrate mothers, young women, and newly arrived families into their communities through education, support, and collective action."

The journey began with a Homework Club in Logan, helping migrant children bridge academic gaps. Today, it has grown into a movement connecting over 20 active volunteer mothers, driven by compassion and a shared mission.

🏠 The Vision: Mothers Rise Home

Now, facing the growing homelessness crisis affecting thousands of families across Australia, Signorita has launched her most ambitious project yet:

🌸 Mothers Rise Home – A shelter initiative to support mothers and children in crisis.

Approved by the UNWA Board, this project seeks to provide short-term shelter, basic needs, counseling, and a pathway to long-term stability for mothers with children and young women in transition.
