Executive Summary
Executive Summary
The Mothers’ Home Project (2026–2030) is a collaborative initiative between four Queensland charities dedicated to restoring safety, dignity, and stability to mothers and children at risk of homelessness, domestic violence, or social abandonment. This proposal presents an evidence-based, measurable, and sustainable model designed to support over 3,000 women and children across four sites by 2030.
Each 1-hectare campus will include 12 self-contained units, 24/7 staffing, and communal facilities for education, counselling, and childcare. By offering trauma-informed care, employment readiness training, and family reunification pathways, the project aims to transition at least 80% of residents into long-term independent housing and employment within 24 months.
Total Project Budget: AUD 7.2 million | Implementation: June 2026 – December 2030
Case for Support
Across Queensland, hundreds of women and children are left without a safe home each year due to domestic violence, poverty, or systemic displacement. Many end up in overcrowded shelters or temporary care, where recovery and family restoration become nearly impossible.
Mothers’ Home will change that — providing a structured, nurturing environment where mothers can heal, learn, and rebuild their families. Each home offers a stable foundation, enabling mothers to focus on education, employment, and long-term well-being.
Impact Story – Maria’s Journey
Maria*, a 28-year-old mother of two, fled her home after years of violence. She arrived with nothing but her children and fear of losing them to the system. Through the Mothers’ Home pilot, Maria received trauma counselling, parenting support, and job placement assistance. Within a year, she secured employment and moved into her own rental home. Her children are now enrolled in school, thriving, and safe. Maria volunteers weekly at the centre, offering hope to other mothers beginning their journeys.
